Meet the experienced and friendly doctors at Midtown Eye Care.

Dr. Jared Powelson

Dr. Jared Powelson is no stranger to Memphis, in fact, you could call him a ‘native midtowner’. He grew up in Central Gardens and attended both grade school and high school in Midtown. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from UT Martin and the Southern College of Optometry (SCO). Dr. Powelson completed a fellowship at Southern Eye Associates in East Memphis, specializing in ocular disease and refractive surgery care. Dr. Powelson has since been in private practice as well as an Associate Professor at SCO.

Dr. Michael Gerstner

Dr. Michael Gerstner received his undergraduate degree from Indiana University and then went on to graduate from the Southern College of Optometry (SCO). After graduation, he completed a residency at Southern Eye Associates in the areas of ocular disease and refractive surgery care. He is currently the Chief of Advanced Care Ocular Disease at SCO, as well as practicing at Midtown Eye Care. Dr. Gerstner resides in Midtown with his family.
